This is a progressive differential locker for the Vitara rear differential that provides critical locking action when you need it.

 

Under normal driving conditions, the locker will operate as a standard open differential. The locker comes in to effect if and when the opposite wheel spins freely, directing power to the wheel that is under load and giving you the traction necessary to overcome the obstacle.
